2008 - 2009 Season

Two MACHA victories over the weekend propelled UMBC to the top of the league standings in a very close race between the top four teams.  The Dawgs, Wagner, Temple and TCNJ are all within a few points of each other.  A key matchup this week between Wagner and Temple and the UMBC game at Wagner next weekend will play a big role in shaping the season.  On Friday, UMBC and Seton Hall traded goals for the first two periods.  The third period saw a motivated group in yellow and white come out and put the game away 12 - 6.  Drew Harcharik broke the 100 point mark for his UMBC career, 3 players had hat tricks, and freshman goalie Casey Davis picked up his first MACHA victory.  On Saturday, UMBC faced Rider for the first time this season.  The Dawgs gave a consistent effort, scoring two goals in each period for a 6 - 2 victory - the team's 6th consecutive win.  Next weekend the Dawgs play their final two MACHA games prior to the holiday break and look to solidify their position at the top of the leader board.  Let's all plan to get out and support the team!

This coming weekend UMBC will return to MACHA action with away games against St. Joes and Wagner.

In keeping with the new  season, the Ice Hockey program is very proud to announce that this season all home games will be broadcast over the internet so you will never miss a game!  Joining the Retrivers as the Voice of UMBC Ice Hockey on the internet is Bob Johnson who can be heard during baseball season as the announcer for the Bethesda Big Train.  Bob is a member of the National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers.   The Broadcast link is available under the Season Menu above.
